Local Seymour Riding

Ahhhhh. Shore sweet Shore. Trying to keep the world beat alive, we invited three Yankees and a couple of Aussies out for a day of ripping on Seymour.

It was memorable not because we had nine riders out, but because it actually rained a little overnight. Conditions had to be some of the best of the year. Just wet enough to make the logs interesting, and to keep the dust down. Truly excellent.

That’s nine bikes there. Count ’em.

LIke I said, just wet enough to make the logs more interesting.

Makes for nice light in the woods, tho.

Torsten and Ralf rippin’ it Euro stylie.

Ralf figured that it was safer to hit the logs fast. Works for him, but not for me.

OK, that was just an excuse. I took a lot of blurry photos. Here’s another. I think that’s an unidentified flying american.

And Ralf again.

And Torsten being the rock and roll photographer.

Leandro bootin’ it under the Powerlines.

We hit up the Chuckwagon shuttle for the return for lap 2. I’d give you a link for Chuckwagon, but those slackers don’t have a website yet. $5 a run from the Canadian Superstore at Riverside and the Parkway, weekends only. Makes Ned’s a bit more worthwhile.

Lap two we hit up CBC again. Less people around for this run, it was like the REAL North Shore at times. Here’s Leandro finding out for himself.

WOW! That guy is fast!

Ralf and Leandro spinning their wheels in the Gerbils Cage.

No shots of Pangor. We went really fast down there. This one of Slash is one of my favourites of the whole summer. He is so-o-o committed. Think he made it?

If you haven’t ridden Seymour before, you might not realize how big some of the trails are. Check out this panorama to get an idea of the amount of work that goes into the trails here. This section is completely off the ground. Up to ten feet high and one to three feet wide.

Anyone up for Lap 3?

That’s what I thought. Wuss.

The next day we went to Fromme and rode everything …. twice. But the camera ran out of juice so I only got this picture of Torsten on Upper Oil Can.

Too bad, it was epic again. The boys were completely exhausted by this point, and so was I. That was IT for a couple of days for all of us. Thorsten and Ralf went to San Francisco and Leandro went to Whistler.

I went to bed.

More Bike riding

I’m getting a little sick of the virus traffic coming in these days. I’ve been getting about 25 a day, and I can’t access my server half the time.

It’s just an excuse because I have been lazy with the updates.

….and now, back to the show….

Hit the road to Merritt. With the

‘Loops closed due to fire it’s one of the few alternatives. Lots going on in this shot. See if you canfigure out what we are listening to.

Only a liltle over an hour from Summerland, and you can get a guy to drive your vehicle down the mountain for only ten bucks. Check out Bonzai Cycles to arrange it.

The top….

It’s like a hall of mirrors in there. VERY fresh singletrack on a 4000′ descent.

Traditional signposts handcrafted by the locals.

“Ve ar zo happy.” “Ja. Happy.” “Uhhh. I just met these guys.”

Ohhh. Bike PARK. We gotta change the whole trail now.

Things get a little bit rocky near the bottom.

Then, after three hours of playing with this trail, it just keeps going….

It finally ends, and we load up into the van again. Big mountain, big trail, tired Germans. So glad I can satisfy the customers.

…And back to Vancouver.

More to come……..

Achtung, Baby

So I just got back from the Okanagan. Condolences go out to the Kelowna riders. However, the trails you see below are still OK for now, and they are within driving distance. Talk to Kurt at Freedom for directions and local beta.

Here’s Ralf eyeing up the skinnies on 7 Up at Arawana.

Leandro really started to find his rhythm here. This is not a very big drop, but the landing is tuff.

This, on the other hand, is pretty big. Over ten feet with a super short tranny. MOnsters make this really cool KLACK noise when you hit.

Barb REALLY stepped it up a notch. This is the Bud Height Air, me, and a Newfie.

Here’s the lame blurry shot of Barb actually doing it.

Here’s the NASA engineered computer simulation from another angle.

I know, it’s not proof, but that Konica camera really sucked ass. I missed pretty much every shot I tried with it. Excuses, excuses……

I did feel inadequate at this point and tried for some redemption. It IS kinda skinny and it seems a lot higher in real life.

…and this one is sorta tricky, too.

I know, I’m a wuss. I’m thinking of everyone else’s safety, ya dig?

Check out my sunglasses line. It was a little dusty (that’s a 300 foot drop right behind Thorsten).

Mmmmmmm. Fresh fruit.

Ewwww. Rotten lycra.

As you can see, another crappy day in the Okanagan. I think we sat there for a while and drank beer.

Wouldn’t you?
