More Banana Bread – Day 3

Or…Happy Birthday Al!  These guys really like the Gillard trails, so that’s where we went.  There’s some new trails up there too.

This one’s called Meeko (whoever that used to be…).

Thanks to Tucker for providing some new singletrack for us.

The way Ken’s been putting in lines, you can run the same trail over and over, but keep mixing it up with all the alternate lines.  Here’s a shot from Ghost Rider.

The birthday boy dropping in to Boss Hog.

A few more faces showed up for the last day, some we’ve had before…

…and some were new.  I’m gapping on names though (sorry, it’s been a brutally long month and I’m a sieve right now).  All I can tell you is that this Aussie is loose, as in nut.

Most stylish on the step up, for sure.  That last shot I was just assuming he was hitting the small line. Glad I caught it.

George, as usual nailing it.

Mark railing it.

Moaty, on his 40th.

Oh, and George has a new girlfriend, who is long on style herself.

He’s jumping for joy, he is.

The Blue Hat goes to…

Yeah, waste three runs on a brake line and that’s what you get.  What a bummer.  We also made him ride a pink bike.

What….more laps?  Yeah, Cat’s Ass to Fist’s First at full tilt.  We only stopped to session this log to gap.

We did our victory dance on the Crawford DH.

George showing us how he made his fortune as a Sears underwear model.

Spot the bikers.  Yes, there’s 2 of them in there someplace.

A very happy 40th to Moaty.  Wish I could have hung around for more Floaties (delish, they involve tequila AND beer), but that’s the price you pay.

More Banana Bread – Day 2

Even more Bananas today.  First, check out the custom Toyota stickers the Aussie rider had.

Nic was all fired up after our warmup laps last week, so today she was on a mission to destroy the Powers Creek trails.

Mission Accomplished!?  Well, maybe we’ll not go all Bush and wait until the end of the day, but so far so good.

George was up again too, and he has a new girlfriend.  Maybe that’s why he looked sorta tired.  That guy can ride this trail with his eyes closed though, so not a problem.

Moaty was his usual self.  Not bad, for a 39 year old.

Looks Australian to me.

My cliche flower shot.

Nic, getting a bit nose heavy here.

Moaty, a bit nose light.

Another panorama shot.  Sorry about the bum shot, Nic, but it turned out pretty rad.

Dropping on the same stunt.

OK, to make up for the bum shot here’s a rad angle for Nicole.

…and another one.

OK, Mission Accomplished!  Check out the Cheshire grin.

We banged off four laps today, so here’s a few more from 2.5 for you to enjoy.

Awesome day.  We’ll do another one up tomorrow with these guys, as it’s Alan’s birthday. Stay tuned…

UFB 2 – Round 2

Yes, he really does eat those things for breakfast.

Hey Hylands!  Get a helmet on that kid!  I can’t believe how rad Kainoa is on a runbike and he’s not even 2 yet.  I’m jealous.

OK, back to rad girlies on mountain bikes.  I took Sarah, Nicole, and Tippie (he’s sorta girly…) down some of the classic Naramata All Mtn. lines this morning.  Sarah needed to reset on some mellower terrain after yesterday’s scorpion, and this is the place.

This rock face is about the gnarliest thing on the trail, and it was perfect for getting that monkey off her back.  Although I did have to turn the camera off for it.

Brett-gnar dropping to flat.

Sarah and Nicole again.  Nicole had a brand spanking new Trek for this ride, and she giggled the whole way down.

Sweet views.  The landscape is nice too.

Last drop on Jack and Jill.  The pic doesn’t show much, but this is a totally rad line.  Steep, then steeper, then gap, then berm.  You’ll just have to come out yourself sometime to see it.

Whoa!  I look good in orange.

Brett would have too, but he went with green today.

The girls ripping the gully walls.

Oh no, we have to pedal 7 kms on the KVR, and there’s rain coming.

The view from the RaceFace cockpit as we drop into the final part of the ride.

Round two and we met up with Andrew, Brant, Sheila, and some more Kelowna locals for a Beer Run in the rain.  Sarah just needed some wet weather to get her back on track (reminded her of home I guess), because we all had a SICK lap.  The wood was ultra slick, and there were some sketchy sideways moments.  Especially when we got kicked off the cannon fade away jump and got the sick unintentional whips laid out.

Here’s Sheila dropping in to Ivy League.

Ooooh…a good one of Brett, Tipping into a turn.

The crew…

The view…

And a few… Rocky Mtns. that is.

Good fun with the families.  We’ll be doing this again soon.
