Another Old Cove’r

They’re comin’ outta the woodwork, I tells ya.  Another old co-worker from the dark days of Cove Bikes showed up today in the form of one Paul Jolley.  Paul disappeared to the Eurozone around 14 years ago, and just showed up with a Swiss miss and some kind of German joinery ticket.

I don’t know what that means, but as Barb tells me, this baby snake we saw is a Northwestern Garter Snake.

Mean little bugger; he took a few strikes at me.

Meanwhile, Dani (the aforementioned Swiss Miss), was sending various drops in the neighborhood in fine style.

Of course, the male of the pair felt that he must go bigger, and so he did.

As today is the unofficial first day of summer (yeah, it’s finally hot and dry), we celebrated with some new vintages.

Thanks for the vineyard tour, Addy!

OK, one is never enough, so we shredded another one out.

Happy first day of summer everyone. Time to get out there!

Oh, almost forgot.  Today’s wildlife tally was one NW Garter snake, a whitetail deer, a black bear, and three mountain goats.  Not too bad…

Freedom Youth Ride – July

No rest for the wicked.  It’s right back at it with another round with the Freedom Youth Crew.

It’s a full Drops-A-Lot sesh tonight. The boys have earned it.

Still gotta work on the trail feel for these guys.  They have the raw sills, but still get so many flats.  All in all though, the most fun I’ve had riding with the young guns.  Looking forward to seeing what these guys will do in the future.

Geile Titten – Coda

Well, maybe “Reprise” would be a better title. Coda would imply a slower, shorter version of the preceding music, and these guys ain’t too slow…for Germans.

I just couldn’t resist. Sorry guys. Super stoked to see you come out actually. You’re enough fun to make my dog want to jump off a cliff.

Which was inspiration enough for Ralf. Looks like he’s recovered from the crash last week in Pemby.

The boys also brought along a new guy, Jeremias. I get the impression this ain’t his first rodeo. He’s been in country for a while, and he seems to have acclimatized.

Oh, and big ups to Vance for fixing the booter at the Gnarnia junction. It’s just a small jump, but it’s one of the more fun ones in the zone. As the guys found out, you don’t need too much speed for it (although landing flat ten feet past the tranny is kinda fun.).

As we had time for a few runs, we went with a Beer Run to finish off the day.

Perfect timing led to the Golden Hour in the grass.

Besides the Germans, we also had a random ONtario XC guy in the person of Ken joining us today. Gotta give full props to the guy for this, as he was in well over his head with this group, with a borrowed bike and first time shuttling, and still went the distance on the day.

Of course, no Beer Run is complete without hitting Ivy League.

Way to get your feet wet in the world of BC Freeride, Ken.

See more pics from this crew in their gallery over at the Geile Titten Gallery.
