Ski Season…Done

Everyone seems to have decided that this year was a bust for skiing.

Well, I guess it started a bit slow.

Admittedly, there was a bit of a drought mid-season where it didn’t snow much at all.  I found something fun to do.

There was also enough sporadic snowfall to keep things freshened up enough to keep me from total boredom.

Also, the competitive side of the sport reveled in the conditions.

It seemed like a province wide phenomenon, as I found on some road tripping to Revelstoke…

..and also in Retallack.

Thus I finished the season off not with a whimper, but with a bang.  Like always.  Also, Tippie.

That was awesome, but there’s now a good 7 months or so of biking to get ready for.

Goose Crew – 3

Also known as “The Last Day of the Retallack Season.”

It kind of makes me sad.  I guess we should get a couple more heli laps in and make the most of it then.  It’s such a beauty day out it’s hard to believe how wet it was two days ago.

The gang looks stoked to drop in.

OK, wayyyy too many pics of everyone to see here.   If you ant to see the whole set, check out the Goose Crew Gallery instead.  There’s lots of variations on the following shots…

There’s also lots of these…

Only a couple of these though.

..and also the rare shot of Phil taking down the biggest line in the tenure.

Oops…sun got in my eyes.

Or I was just dazzled by a bunch of bum shots.

This is one of my favourites today.  That’s some serious alpine style right there.

The happy crew.

Go fly a kite, Retallack style

Finally, here’s Jackson getting a ride home with the old man.  Dude’s got some style going on, that’s for sure.

Goose Crew – 2

OK, yesterday was challenging, but it’s done.  Honestly, it was still super fun.  There’s lots of great riding to be had in the wet up here, but with so many fresh trails that much moisture just makes it extra challenging.  We rode 11k’ yesterday, and it felt like twice that.

Today looked like we were on a different planet.

As it was still pretty damp from all the rain, we went over to Idaho Peak to hit the Wakefield. It faces south, is a hundred years old and very well established, and drains much better anyway.

Definitely the right call to start our day, and it was even warm enough on the beach at the bottom that we could pretend it was still summer of a sort, too.

Many more runs ensued, but the pump track apres was still the best.

Crab cakes tonight, tomorrow we heli!
