Mr & Mrs. Marmalade – 9

DIGGER!

Yep, back in the old ‘hood today.  A little lap on Fromme on our way to the Sunshine Coast.

First up is 7th Secret.  Upper Oilcan looks in need of some serious love, and 7th is in great shape, so that was an easy choice.

Mind you, that climb took some doing.  I don’t think you get a lot of practice on the 1800’ climbs back in Bristol.

Yet somehow the Brits manage to slay the log rides.  Go figure.

Random artsy shot of some fungus.

Since we saw Digger, we had to hit Ladies Only.  He’s put about 300 hours into Ladies this year, and it shows.

The old Bart Bridge still stands.  Hi Bart!

One of many new boardwalk sections.

The swamp teeter and the accompanying heron are also still there, over 15 years later.

More uphill…

Natural High was also recently rebuilt.  Here’s a good stunt, a swivel totter.  3 times is the charm, right Al?

Some more Natural High.

The last trail was the Imonator, which has been totally rebuilt recently.  How rad is this?

Genuinely skinny, too.

Ahh, a nice sunset on a warm summers eve.  This was, embarrassingly, the “warmest passage I’ve ever experienced.”  Well, you can figure out what I meant…

Excellent North Shore Adventures

It’s a travel day, but the sun is out and there’s bunnies everywhere on the Shore.

Not only is it a great day to ride, but it’s also Wade’s Excellent Adventure (a mystery route race on Fromme), and I’ve got a date to sell Barb’s old V-Tach.

First we had to go for a test ride, so I met up with the buyer at a secret location and headed up to Floppy Bunny for a lap.

Heidi stroked that bike up the hill easily, and then proceeded to slay the Bunny.  Hard to believe she’s only been off-roading for a few weeks.

While we were out, the old spidey sense started tingling.  I can’t go for a ride on the Shore without finding at least one new trail…

We have a buyer!

Barb will miss the V-Tach, but it’s clearly found a nice new home.  Heidi will be making lots of new friends, I think.

So now I was free to head up for the final lap of the race, which as it turned out was a run on a freshly refurbished Ladies Only with Arthur and Monica.

BUY MY DVD!!!!!!

Thanks for all the hard work, Digger.  Also ran into Sarah and Jessamy.  Jess was stalled, so Sarah hit the restart button.

Good to see the ole’ Brown Fish Jumpers out competing and taking home the hardware.

Not as good to see that Tippie had a bullhorn. He still managed to lose his voice, though.

For gods sake, put a shirt on man.

Oh, and then I found out it was Chaz’s 50th birthday.  Seriously, that little hairbag there is a half century.  Way to go, bro.

Affengeil – Day 1

Ja, super cool.  Andreas has returned, after a four year absence.  And he brought friends this time.

We actually did a run of Fromme first, but like an idiot I forgot my camera.  Look…it was a short notice trip and I drove down from Kelowna in the morning.  You’ll have to forgive me this time.  Anyway, I’ll have some pics from the guys’ cameras later.  Fromme was rad, we had a great time.

Second run we hooked up with some washed up Rocky Mtn. rider, and also Norona, Arthur, and a whole pile of other locals.

I don’t know where we went though.  Somewhere by a big tree.  Better pics tomorrow.
