Oh wow. Another local ride to add to the inventory. XC riding….weird. I must be getting older or something. What do you think, Barb?
Right. well, the Smith Creek “Gruel” isn’t exactly an inviting name for a ride, but as we found out it’s not really all that grueling. I guess if you tried to mid-ring it all the way up it would be a bit tougher, but overall it’s pretty mellow.
A few views, and 8 km of buff Okanagan singletrack carry you up to the top in about an hour to an hour and a half.
There’s a few short technical sections to push your anaerobic threshold, but mostly its just a spin.
Oh, and the occasional “obstacle” in your way.
Harley finally moved outta the way.
The top has a decent view, and there’s some old decrepit log rides to fall off.
Once again, Harley got outta the way in time.
The descent is fast, open, scenic, and is puntuated by little jumps every few hundred feet.
Oh, and there’s even a few rockfaces to play with.
Throw in a handful of big gaps (20-30 footers) here and there in the woods and you’ve got yet another reason to come up and visit.

What’s up dude; KILLER bike. Could you tell me what kind of bike you got in this photo?

I couldn’t make out the name as it was out of focus. I want to get a multi-purpose XC bike just like that but my local bike shops don’t carry anything that looks even close to that without it being a 4-link. Also what upgrade have you put into it if any.
Again, KILLER bike dude.
That’s a Cannondale. I think the Jekyll, but I’m not sure.
I use a Chromag hardtail for my XC ride. You can do anything a full DH bike can do with one of those.
Also check out the Knolly Endorphin.
Don’t be afraid of the 4-bar. They tend to be better than the single pivots.
Whoa dude, That Knolly Endorphin MSRP’s @
$2,250 just for the frame! Even though I quit smokin, I still won’t have enough to buy it for a few years. Untill then I have to putt my almost stock beater ’98 trek 4500(1.5in rims/no disc) around till that time comes.
Maybe you could sell me yours by then; All kidding aside. Sorry to waste your time dude. Also thanks for letting me know I’m way out of my league.
