Judy-Lynn and Chris – Day 2

We were going to go to Silverstar today, but Judy-Lynn has to hang around the hospital today, so we’re off to ride Penticton instead.  So I get to see what kind of rider Chris is…

Pretty good form, I’d have to say.  We shredded a run down the Peat Bog and then checkout out the local creek for some more wildlife.  Kokanee isn’t just a crappy beer, it’s actually the name of a kind of land-locked salmon indigenous to the lake.

Then, on the shuttle return, I ran across these California Bighorn Sheep.

Pretty awesome, I’d have to say.  So is this phat Ponderosa pine tree.  There’s a stand in this one trail we regularly ride that must be a couple hundred years old.

I think Chris is liking round 2.

Stylin’ action shot in the bunchgrass.

Yup, that’s the sunset.  Thumbs up.

OK, so Judy-Lynn will be out of surgery soon.  So we’re out for today.

Judy-Lynn and Chris – Day 1

That rain was just an interlude.  Summer shows no sign of abating around here.  Judy-Lynn and Chris have picked a great week to come out and get away from the lousy weather in Ontario.

It seems to be a good week for wildlife too. Check out this little guy, a juvenile Alligator Lizard.

I saw an adult, which is much bigger and more alligator-like, but he scampered off too quickly.  The kids showed up a bit early on Friday, so we went for a little shakedown cruise on the dirt roads around Peachland to check out the bikes and get the lay of the land.  I didn’t want to get into the heavy singletrack right away, as they’re on holiday, ya know?

They seemed to be enjoying that plan…

Uh oh…plan backfired.  Stupid gravel roads.  Right after we’d scared a moose out of the swamp and chased a coyote for half a klick, Judy-Lynn slid out on a rain rut and busted her wrist.  Dang.

Oh well, I know the hospitals pretty good around here. I guess it’s going to be just me and Chris on the trails this week.
