Mr & Mrs. Marmalade – 2

A great start to a tour.  Sun Peaks in the rain.  Oh, and bears…

As it turns out, Mrs. Marmalade (I think we can call her Yvonne for short) is just fine at riding bikes.  Especially twisty steep stuff in the wet.  Which is lucky as that’s what Sun Peaks has a lot of.

Oh, and she also likes riding slippery wood and the occasional double entendre.  I sense a loooooong trip ahead.

Gratuitous Freeride Godfather shot.

Mr & Mrs. Marmalade

Well, they certainly look harmless enough.  However, I have met Al before and I know what he’s like.  Underneath that vaguely Muslim exterior lurks the heart of an 18th century explorer of Dickensian proportion.  I can only guess what his wife is like.

She seemed pleased that one of the first people she met on the trip was Wade Simmons…in a towel.

Where’s My Cookies?

I never realized it until they arrived, but this group from the North Shore included NSMBA baking legend Karen Gillich, and she DIDN’T BRING COOKIES!  So very disappointed.  Oh well, I’ll still show them some nice trails.

I think Nicole surprised herself here.  It’s not like you find drops like this on the Shore.  While locals around here don’t put too much emphasis on the difficulty of the stuff up at Powers, when you’re used to clinging to slippery wet roots and moss on the coast the wide open Interior style is a bit daunting.

Then, when you get to the tighter, more technical parts that freak out the locals, the Shore types slay it on sight.

Diff’rent Strokes, eh?

At any rate, they were suitably impressed and sent the majority of the stunts.

The older classic line was more their speed.

Coming from the Shore, it’s hard not to like this move.

Or this one.  Still, it took a couple of tries to get this one nailed.

Ahhh, everyone’s favourite, the wooden berms.

We also did another speed run on some old school stuff, but no pics.  Too busy ripping it.  A fun, full day of dirt and dust.  Lots of riding ahead, the season is only half done at this point.
