Last Powder of the Season

Well, this is it.  Last powder of the year.  Check out the clock on the hut there.  We’re heading up the lift 15 minutes early again, and there’s 20cms fresh today.

Oh, and Chevs got out for a bit of it, and SHE’S SKIING ON HER OWN!

Well, a little bit, but she did go 10-15 feet and stopped without falling over, more than once.

I ran into some other guys with touring gear, and managed to invite myself along for a quick outta bounds run.

Things got out of hand pretty quickly.  With so much snow over the past week, everything is well filled in and the pack is bomber.  Perfect for charging the bigger lines off the shoulder.  Marshall here dropped this nice 30 footer (and he thought it was only ten.  Surprise!).

Tracks.  My tracks.

Marshall, all smiles.

It doesn’t really show all that well, but that real skinny line just left of center isa 50 degree slot I’ve been looking at for a very long time.  Finally…

And since tomorrow is Easter, have a look at this bunny.

Chevy’s First Run From the Top

We got her up the chair last year in a pack, but today Chevy was going to ski from the summit with us.

The chairlift doesn’t seem to faze her.

Blue or green?

OK, green.

She did quite well for her first time.  Got sorta tired by the bottom, but she skiied almost the whole 2000’ with us.  Grandma then took over so Barb and I could get out for a few laps together.

Barb used to be a bumper before I set her straight, and here she’s seeing if she remembers what it’s like.

Yup, those are bumps alright.  Looking just south though, and I think powder is still a better idea.
