ReReturn of the Jedi – Day 2

Well, a missed ferry meant a quick ap in a local North Van park, along with some entertainment from the local beach partiers.

“Oh, look at the homeless people….thats so sad.”

Yeah, homeless but with $80k worth of mountain bikes.

Anyway, an early start put us on Vancouver Island pretty early, so we managed to hit the Dumont trails for a full day. And a full day it was…

Right off the bat the crew started throwing down on the stunts of Nanaimo.

Dumont is nice in that there are lots of mellow moves. This stunp drop was probably the harshest thing there, and it couldn’t have been more than an 8 footer.

Newcomer Lairy Nick demoed his Kinrade-ish style for us. Get used to seeing this kid.

Another of the young’ns out for this tour, Scott (or Mongo as he became known).

The oldsters were well repped as per usual. Here’s Panama out for another round.

Also Po’, proving that he can “step up” when the situation requires.

Oh wait, ther were some bigger moves. Now I remember.

The last teenager is Flash. More about him later. You just need to know that he’s afraid of bears and somewhat gullible.

Panama again, getting the big airs off to an early start.

Maybe too early…

Yeah, that Nick kid again.

Our friend Gabe (he’s Canadian, helping out). Having the time of his life.

After an absence of four years, Chaos has returned to Canada. Living up to his name too. He cased this one.

Some post ride refreshments….

…and a post ride haircut. Mongo get trimmed….maybe all the ladies will like Mongo bettter.

Canada Day Long Weekend – Day 3

Uh oh, we’re totally busted. Someone found out that we’re just faking all this…

. Apparently we’re not hardcore enough for some Westbank loc’s that think they are God’s gift to the bike world. Fricken’ white trash….I know where you live.

On to happier events…. HAPPY CANADA DAY!!! Let’s go ride.

Colin from the now defunct (I think he packed ‘er in last year) Toss Gear and his girlfriend showed up so along with Sven and Dorothy (Aimee and Andrew went winery-ing and Sarah and Jeff went to Silver Star) we hit up Arawana. Colin REALLY hit up Arawana….

That was the infamous Bud Height hit. I was feeling a little tired from a solid week of rides, but still that new Knolly is so killer that I managed to hit some of the few remaining ramps that I haven’t gotten around to nailing…

Colin was loving the Okanagan vibes, although some it was a bit over Sven’s head….

Think he can hit the lake from there?

He was sure trying to…

Metallic blue beetle, not sure what kind it is. If you really know your coleoptera, let me know.

Back to riding, in the Arawana Canyon.

Very artsy….

So hard to get perspective in here. I guess I’m going to have to spring for a fisheye lens soon.

Final bit of singletrack before the beach.

I haven’t been posting many pics of cool cars lately. I think it’s because there are so many around here. This is one of several roadsters that went past us on the highway yesterday.

Canada Day Long Weekend – Day 1

Happy Birthday Canada. Well almost.

Check out the wheels on Barb’s bike. We finally got the beast finished. Some urban camo for all you military types….

Along with our Brit friends, Sven and Dorothy from the Shore have come up for a visit on this rainy Friday. They’ve never ridden the Okanagan, so a little Peat Bog session was the order of the day.

It’s so Shore-like, what with the teeters and all.

Skinny logs too.

OK, so maybe the step downs are a little different here.

Oh, who’s this handsome devil? Yeah, not too many pics of me out there. Thanks for the shot, Barb,

Zak throwing some style into it.

Here’s Dorothy learning to shred the sand.

We had a third lap planned, but the weather had other ideas and we got seriously rained out on this one. Besides, we had to get back to my place before the MudBunnies got there.

Oh yeah, it’s gonna be one of THOSE weekends….
