Victoria Day Long Weekend — Goin’ Home

The last day. Hey, maybe we should do some riding for a change boys.

But first, lets see how many bikes we can get on the roof of the van.

This is a seriously secret and sick ride outta a tiny town called Cawston. The shuttle UP is 45 minutes.

Here’s the top.

Lots of stuff in the woods worthy of the ride, but not necessarily photos.

This is about halfway down the 4500′ vertical.

Lets just follow all the way down.

…and another sweet Malibu to end ‘er.

Happy Birthday Darcy. See ya next year.

Victoria Day Long Weekend — Day 1

Oh yeah, it was a l-o-o-o-ong weekend.

Myself, Darcy, Dale, Dom, Tony, Bob, and Johnny Sedlacek.

This has become an annual event to mark Darcy’s birthday. I know that I feel older every time it rolls around. As a bonus, this was the shakedown cruise for the new roof rack for the Bush Pilot vehicle, Great White.

Here’s a great view of the rack taken at the Hope Slide.

Here’s the birthday boy. Doesn’t he look happy?

Much further into the drive, we found ourselves high up the side of a mountain at sunset.

These are some mining buildings hanging off the side of the mountain that date back to the turn of hte century.

Satan was there too.

Sunset.

That was the first day. There was a great deal of carrying on that first night too, but I just can’t show you that.

First Ride on the TripLog

Hey hey. It works. Neat. Well, let me tell ya about today. Rode Seymour with the Old Bastards. Had to thrash them. Suckas. Started on a shuttle from about 2600′, just below the ski area. Around 8 inches of snow there. Never rode this particular piece of the backyard. I love it when that happens.

Anyway, Dave Stevens came out as well as Dom. Darcy and Bob have lots of time in already this year, but it has been about four years since Dom was competetive, and Dave has been off the back since about ’94. Averqage age without Smoke in the mix? 44. With Smoke? 39. These dudes are pushin, know what I mean?

Anyway, discussed safety in general at the top of CBC. A small amount of snow at the top. Saw Jeremey working on the Gerbil Cage, Part II. Went from there to Dale’s, then hit the C-Buster. First non-stop of the season.Dave used to be the master of the uphill, but he’s got a little conditioning to do.

Finished with the secret route back to casa de Smoke. Dom hit a gap, first ever. Two foot drop with a four foot gap on a corner. Not too bad, but killer for a 1st time.

Mmmmmmmm. Margaritas on the rocks, Two Fingers and Minute Maid. Gotta go, dinners up.

It’s only March 2nd. Look out. ’03, you wanna be me.
