Judy-Lynn and Chris – Day 1

That rain was just an interlude.  Summer shows no sign of abating around here.  Judy-Lynn and Chris have picked a great week to come out and get away from the lousy weather in Ontario.

It seems to be a good week for wildlife too. Check out this little guy, a juvenile Alligator Lizard.

I saw an adult, which is much bigger and more alligator-like, but he scampered off too quickly.  The kids showed up a bit early on Friday, so we went for a little shakedown cruise on the dirt roads around Peachland to check out the bikes and get the lay of the land.  I didn’t want to get into the heavy singletrack right away, as they’re on holiday, ya know?

They seemed to be enjoying that plan…

Uh oh…plan backfired.  Stupid gravel roads.  Right after we’d scared a moose out of the swamp and chased a coyote for half a klick, Judy-Lynn slid out on a rain rut and busted her wrist.  Dang.

Oh well, I know the hospitals pretty good around here. I guess it’s going to be just me and Chris on the trails this week.

Fel Ci Efo Dau Gynffon – Day 10

Awwwwwwwwww….I think summer is finally over. Cold and wet this morning. A few of us are taking the day off to go to Lillooet. I gues somebody kind of needs some X-rays (a bug blue hand this morning).

The rest of the gang was heading up for Camel Pass with Martin.

Ooooo….looks cold. Sure glad I didn’t fly out to Lorna last night with Cory and Margus (it turns out it was incredibly wet and muddy to the point that they had to WALK their bikes downhill).

Yep, there’s snow in them thar hills.

Well, it might be cold and a bit dreary, but it’s still spectacular.

Plus the climb is tough enough to keep even these blue bloods nice and warm.

Fingers tend to get a bit cold though…

Just kidding, that’s Rob’s hand. If you look close you’ll see a nice spiral fracture of his driving finger. What a bummer.

I think he would rather have been freezing his fingers off up here though.

I’ve never actually done this particular ride. Thanks go out to Martin for showing this one off to the crew.

Not much more I can tell you about this one.

It’s a bit of a climb up…

…it’s a spectacular view…

…it’s a bit cold out today….

…Martin seems to have his stock angles on the pics worked out….

…and the weather is just like Wales.

See you on the next one.
