Make It Reign – 3

Everyone wants a wildlife encounter.  Well, no bears today, but we did find this Western Garter.

I think most of the crew was more interested in the helicopter over there, though.

It was a fine day to fly.  Much clearer than our inspection lap on Saturday.

Top of the world with Giant Bikes.

Speaking of which, there’s the bikes.  Make it Reign! No wait…better put them down nicely.  It’s a long way to the bottom from here.

Adam and boys letting it rip in the alpine.   It’s good ground up here.   Usually you can’t go this quick in the alpine, but Barber is much more forgiving than some other heli zones we use.

Yeeeha!

Here’s a few postcard shots for you.

Halfway down and we took a little lunch break at Tenquille Lake.  I first rode here in 1989.   Not much has changed.  There’s been a forest fire, the cabin has been rebuilt, but overall it’s much of a sameness.

After some grub and a little swim it was time to hit some more descent.

It’s long, fast, sketchy, and once we finished working some shots with Sterl, we shredded it right to the bottom.  Just had to stop once to check out this grouse.

Another great day.  I think the journos had some fun, we’ll have to see what they say in the upcoming article.  Awwww….who are we kidding.  Today was AWESOME!  More heli fun coming up.

Make It Reign – 1

Hell week begins…oh wait…I meant HELI week.  Time to get some jet b in the system.

This week it’s all about Giant bikes, and their new 650b model Reign and Glory.  Get inside the mind of Sterling Lorence and see the world through his eyes.

Hard to have a heli day without my AllRide socks…

Quite the crew on quite the trail.  Although I’ve been riding the Pemby zone for a couple of decades, I haven’t gotten in on this drop yet.  Good thing we’ve got our local legend and good pal Seb Wild on the case for us.

It’s also great to meet some of the insane minds behind the bikes at Giant.  Here’s Kevin getting his mind blown in the mountains above Pemberton.

Uh oh… you may experience delays on the highway.

I also had no idea, but Thomas Vanderham got married in town tonight.  Of course I crashed it. Crazy start to this week’s trip.  Lot’s of awesome action to come.

Nice Present – 3

Good morning Nelson, BC!

Your mission today, Powerslave.

The gang might need some inspiration after a long evening of games of skill.  Between tomahawks, Nageln, and Indo-board Jenga, it’s a wonder that they even got up this morning.  Wait…maybe this will inspire:

Whattya think?  Did we score a great day for the first heli drop of the season or what?

You’d better kiss her, dude.  This is about the best birthday present you can get (I’d know, I’ve had a few heli birthdays…)

Actually, it was pretty intense.  Temps at takeoff were about 26C, but at the summit they were the same.  We were anticipating over 40 by the end of the ride.

Like we cared…  It doesn’t really get any better than this.

Some nice roost on this turn.

Syd was only on her 22nd day of riding.   On Powerslave.  Yeah.

Seriously.  Legendary trail, sick lines, epic crash, superstar smile.  That girl is my hero.

Thanks for bringing this crew out, Syd. Happy birthday, Ryan. And Wylie…damn glad to meet ya.

Absolutely amazing trio, and what a way to end the day (you can see the summit where we dropped to the left of Wylie, and now we’re swimming in Kootenay Lake).

OK, back to the Okanagan.  More shenanigans coming at ya.
