Guides Training

There’s nothing like the Kootenay’s.  Except maybe in the Lord of the Rings…  maybe.

Time for the annual guides training session at Retallack Lodge.  We have a ton of safety measures to refresh on, and also new wildlife regs to go over.  Gotta protect the bunnies and such…

Here’s the crew this year: Kinrade, Bri, Ryland, Me, and Lorraine.  ‘Raine is gonna want to kill me for this pic, but it makes me laugh so it’s worth it.

Alright, on to the scenarios.  Just remember that these are all for fun.  Nobody was actually hurt.  Here we’re practicing some high angle rescue and some innovative new packaging techniques (more about that later).

Yeah, I agree.   F*$k 24″ wheels.

If you haven’t heard, Retallack can be pretty steep in places.

After a hard day at work, we gotta unwind with some Indo Board Jenga.  It’s definitely as hard as it looks.

Game over, man.  Game over…

Trousers to the Left – 2

Morning came all too soon, and we wer e trying to get a heli lap in.  However…

Yeah, we seem to have run out of good weather.  Ah well, it’s not like it’s that bad of a deal when we miss out on the heli.  You get bonus laps on the lower parts of Powerslave to make you feel better.

The boys look to be OK with that plan.

Bear’s Den was pretty gooey.  I haven’t ridden much of this stuff since moving away from the Shore, but I haven’t lost my touch.

Clap for the Wolfman…

And now for some Photoshop fun and games.

A quieter evening this time around.  Maybe they were actually tired…

Trousers to the Left – 1

Summer is definitely over.  Shoulder season is upon us.

So it’s back to Retallack for another session.  If this looks like a fun group well…you’re right.

The first evening got rolling with a bang. I can’t tell you all that went on, but I can tell you that if someone yells out “Trousers to the left!” it’s best to not be standing beside the fireplace.

We’ll have to see if these guys can get up and ride in the morning, because this first night ran late.
