Ansgar & Tina

Ahh, the lovely couple on their honeymoon.   As is the wont with Germans these days, they are on a cruise across BC in a motorhome.  Although only around here for a day, I’d hoped to make it a memorable one.

I think the Koots put a bit of fear into them.  A common experience really.  Not to worry, we’ll get them up to speed with a nice progression.  Like from this…

To this…

Gabe came out today too.  This is likely his last ride here, as he’s got upcoming knee surgery and then is in self imposed exile to North Bay Ontario.

“Ja, in Germany ve also know how to rock.”

Tina seemed to be getting over her fears re: Canadian riding.  Nothing like the Mice to get that sorted.  Unlike many riders that come out this way, she got stronger as it got more technical.  Here she is killing some of the trickier lines on Bronco.

Even getting a bit of air on the Dead Horse Extension.

Gabe, you know you’re gonna miss this.

You’re gonna miss this even more, I think.

A couple more shots of the happy couple shreddin’ berms and boostin’ hips, and we’re out on another.

Not to mention it was one of the hottest days of the summer.  I’m so glad to be having a real summer for a change.  This is the first really hot one in about three years, and I’m LOVING it all the way.

This will be it for a bit, as I’m about to head on the infamous Hurtin’ For Vert rematch.

Ultimate BC Road Trip 2

Well, that last ride was something special, was it not?  I doubt we’ll be able to equal that light for pics today, but I bet that we’ll have just as much fun riding.

Maybe we’ll just spend the whole day turning left, like Darren there or Kelli in the next one.

I think you already met Martin (above), and below is our new friend Harlan Price.  He’s enjoying the use of all of his fingers here, because within 24 hours of this picture he’ll be nursing the loss of a couple of fingernails and some stiches in the nailbeds.  Not a riding incident though.  Silly bugger caught his digits in the bike rack!

Oh, and can’t forget our contest winner, Leanne.  I gather from here expression that she’s having a good time of it.

There’s a couple of things that make the Okanagan special in BC mountain biking.  One is going for dips in the lake after or between laps (naked toddlers are optional, but highly recommended).

.

T’other is visiting wineries for samples of the local grape alongside gourmet eats.

Thanks to Hillside for the great repast, and best of luck to the traveling circus on their next stops in Rossland, Nelson, Revy, Sicamous, and Whistler.

Shop Ride and BBQ

It seems kinda dumb that we’re doing all these after work rides, and then  I don’t get home to dinner until nearly midnight.  We should just have a BBQ on the beach after.

Know what else is dumb?

Yeah, that log ride.   Still kinda fun, but you gotta make it to the end, eh?.  It’s moves like this that I’ll miss the most when Gabe moves to Ontario.

Chuck D., overshooting the mulleins.

It was our first ride on the Beer Run all year.  Amazingly, the only spot I had to get off my bike was here.  Too bad though.  That’s the end of the mini road gap.  Moment of silence please…

And now, a little flashback to my little dog.  We may have gotten a new pup a couple of years ago, but the spirit of Harley lives on with Cooley.

Except the new dog seems to like the water even more.

Still can’t get her to read, though.  It clearly says ‘No Diving."’

Finally, a little meat shot for all you BBQ fetishists out there.
