The (Sur)Real Seymour

Oh look. A 2005 Rocky Mountain RMX. Must be some pros about…

A ha! There they are. Must be a real Seymour day. Vanderham, Shandro, and Watson were already on their second run when we showed up (that’s Scottish George in there too). While I’m plugging the crew, I may as well say hi to the gang at Trek. I know you’re looking, I see it on the stats….

This is what a real day on Seymour looks like.

All spooky and misty. Very good fun today.

By the time we got to TNT, it was starting to get a lot clearer out there.

Visibly improved by the end of Dirty Diapers.

…and by the end of Ned’s, the sun was poking through the trees a bit. Could this be the end of the torrential rains for a while?

Last Day….

…and the beatdown continues. An early start boded well today, especially as the dry weather looked to be coming to an end. There were intermittent raindrops all the way down, but no rain until the last few hundred meters.

as we were riding Seymour, could there be any other choice?

Eric on the edge of the Gerbil Cage Extension. Check out his tires.

Classic shot of the exit from the Zig-Zag line. I think that’s Gary on the log.

Here’s O’Dea about to end his day. He fell off the log and freakishly caught his ankle on the way in. I think its broken, but he refuses to go to a doctor.

Bug him for me until he goes, will ya?

Anyway, if you’ve noticed that he’s been absent from most of the shots, its because he’s been riding too close to me for the camera to come out in time. Especially in the last few days, John really rode strong this trip. He won’t believe me, but he greatly improved over the last year.

Here he’s toughing it out across the Millenium Log.

FunBobby tries to ride the wall.

Gary on Dirty Diapers.

Trask with Dirty Diapers.

FunBobby with clean shorts.

Calvin negotiates a bridge while King looks on.

Then on to Neds. Trask continues to flex off of everything.

Eric noses in. He stuck it though.

…and that’s it. Some more drinking and carrying on, plus an early departure the next day, but that was it for riding.

All in all, a very busy month.

And it’s still not over yet…….

A Big Seymour Day

After hitting the wall hard last night, I was ready to charge.

Scott, however, was feeling the effects of Canadian beer.

We hit Seymour hard, riding CBC twice, TNT, Dirty Diapers, Ned’s, Fisherman’s, Corkscrew, a new trail (the Angry Penguin?), Pingu, Boogieman, Baden-Powell, Emergency Exit, Fed Bear/ Dead Bear, and Kelly’s.

Quite the list.

Boombatz on the Gerbil Cage of CBC.

…and on the extension.

Here’s a shot of the gap on Ned’s.

On the second lap we checked out Mark’s new trail. He wants to call it something dirty, like Tossed Salad. I suggested Angry Penguin because it links up to Pingu. This shot is of a teeter-totter with a couple of corners in it. Should be rideable in a week or so.

This trail is going to be sick. A huge wall ride, some crazy step up teeters, and a turntable. Plus a bunch of gaps and drops.

Scott also managed to hit the Piledriver. And smear it. Well, it is traditional to bail on your first time of it, and he’s getting pretty tired after a week of heavy riding.

That’s it, one more day to go.
