Christian and Andreas — Day 2

Fromme today. Yesterday pretty much destroyed the boys, so what better way to get on top of it than riding Fromme in the rain?

Skog’s and Colin from Toss were also out. We started off with a look at the Circus, then wussed out and hit Upper Oil Can. Here’s Colin on the big skinny rolldown near the top.

Christian was riding super strong. Here he is on Big Smooth, no problems at all…..

Of course, that didn’t last. We went over to Air Supply where he promptly 50/50’d the tranny on the last big one. You know, the longest one? Anyway, a broken rear shock was the only casualty….well, that and Christians’ nuts.

Andreas stepped it up too. Here he’s about to bottom his forks out on the Starfish.

And another bridge, and we’re done.

Steve at Bean Around the World gets the big shout out for selling his spare Romic to Christian and keeping the ride alive.

North Shore Mountain Bike Festival and Conference

I had the opportunity to take part this year, so I helped guide a hike and two riding sessions on May 31, June 1st and June 2nd.

The hike was a bit wet.

On Wednesday’s ride, I had a little help in the form of Mr Hoots, Mr Simmons, and Mr Rey.

The last ride of the Conference saw Mr March appear to help with a double run on Seymour.

There are many more pics to be found at this gallery HERE.

Odds & Ends

A bunch of stuff to catch up on here.

I finally got my big bike a little while ago. It’s a Rocky Mountain RMX R2, with a few key mods. Upgrade on the fork to the 888RC, an MRP tensioner, and a lower cockpit courtesy of ChroMag and Freedom. A big shout out to Pete for hooking it up, and to Gabe at Cove Bikes for keeping me on the trail. as soon as I get up to speed, I’ll be doing a review on not only the R2, but also the Cove Peeler and the Dark Scarab.

CBC’s Canada Now did a story on the bike issues on the North Shore this week. Ooooh. National coverage. Here Sharon, Jeremy, Barb, and Harley get interviewed by CBC, on CBC. I got a few words in (as usual), and Barb and I rode a few lines for them.

Also on CBC this week…(insert your own joke here).

The CBC Ripper was a blast, and a bunch more support went into the NSMBA coffers. If you haven’t experienced a Ripper yet, you too should come and feel the power of the dark side.

CBC also has some new funding in the form of a government grant. Jeremey Power will be working on the trail all summer. Here’s a taste of things to come.

Some more Pennsylvanians showed up. They seem to be getting it figured out.

That’s it, you’re up to date.
