One More Snow Day…

I’m not done with winter just yet.  There’s a few things to do first, like throw my dog into the pow.  She’s head over heels for it…

Even Barb came out for a little Easter tour action.  The hill has been closed for weeks, but it’s still snowing almost every day up there.   We hit thigh deep freshies on the north side.

The whole family was out.  That’s my Dad on the misery sticks.  He peeled off to tour the XC trails with my uncle, but joined us for the first part of the climb.

As usual, the Heavens were a party.  That’s how much it snowed this week; the BBQ is buried again.

All work and no play make Barb a sleepy skier.

Rats…

Yes, it’s Easter.  What better way to commemorate the occasion than by making a Snow Bunny.

LAST DAY!

So sad.  Here’s a little keyhole view of our tracks from the approach run to Secondary.  Yes, that unfamiliar light in the sky is back.

I’m totally blown from yesterday.  Only got 17 runs yesterday.  My tele record this year was 23, which equals 46k vertical feet.  A definite personal best for a freeheel one day total.  But I had nowhere near enough gas in the tank for that yesterday, and today I’m on fumes.  So I went for a short lap with Julie out to Secondary.

It paid off…

Just some thigh deep untracked in the sun, nothing special.

It was also the Dummy Downhill.  I liked the flying washing machine from the shop guys the best.

Chevy got upset by the crashing.  Sort of funny to me though.  I especially like the patrol version of Steve Portman, who did a half-gainer to it’s face.  Sorry, no pics of that one, but there was some video that should be showing up on YouTube at some point.

After that, there was just enough time to go up to the Heavens for the last party of the year.

A couple hundred people had the same idea (there’s more down the hill in the trees).

Many shenanigans ensued, including some snow blade tricks off of this krummholtz.

That’s shit’s bananas. B-A-N-A-N-A-S!

Just one more chore to go.

That’s it for the lift.  I’ll get one or two more days of the steep and deep, but it’s all self-propelled from here on out.  Now I just gotta get a bike or two together…

2nd To Last Day

It’s almost the last day.  Here we are, getting on the lift at 8:50.  Check out that massive lineup.  Yup, it’s the last powder day of the season.  Well, the last one with lift access.

The end of year shenanigans have started early.

Once again, it’s steep and deep under the chair.

Sorry about the resolution, but it’s hard to get pics when you’re buzzing from your first lap.  I managed 1st chair again, so I had to shred the liftline for wakeups.  It was kind of hard to see.  Monty was in there with me, and he had a nice tomahawk move going.  We’re both so beat down from the last 5 weeks of straight snowfall, that we’re having a hard time putting together good laps.  But we’re going to soldier on….

Joel’s beard tells the story better.

Ran into Jonny Francais today.  He’s usually a Big White guy, but today he scored a good one.

I took him and one of his buddies off these small hits in the Pit, and then into the thick trees of Deep Throat.  You Big White guys are used to steeps, right?

One run is all they got though.  I’d liked to have done some more laps, but it’s a pow day and you’re not my friends.  I did give them directions to the heavens and scored them beers at the end though.  I’d say from the looks of things that all is forgiven.

Skulls, ya needledick.

That’s what happens to you at the tail end of a 16 day scotch bender.  He used to cut the grass, he was a very nice boy…
