Powers Creek Clean Up Day

Something I’ve wanted to do for a while is clean up the crap that all the rednecks leave behind after the winter at the trail head. Which is xactly what we got up to here. Well, Rich doesn’t look quite like he’s gotten up yet, but you know what I mean…..

Dave got a new microwave.

I like this one. “Environmentally friendly lawn care…” Like you couldn’t dispose of it in like fashion. You know, if you’re gonna have a grow-op, no-one is going to catch you by hanging out at the dump. They figured it out when you bought all that fertilizer at the local head shop.

There were also a few trees down that needed clearing. This one in particular….

So there you go. 4 tons of crap in just over an hour.

Of course, we had to celebrate our efforts with some laps. Justin seemed pretty stoked on the results.

A few other random locals showed up as well.

That was just a warmup for the main event. May 25th up at Gillard we’re doing the BIG CLEANUP. See you there…..

The Weather Is Getting Worse…

but you guessed it….we’re STILL riding. Ryan came up to Westbank for a session on the local today, and even Barb got out for one.

It was misty enough to remind me of the Shore, and it was definitely slick enough on the upper sections. Check out my skidmarks going UPHILL (Barb slid off the side about half a second after this shot).

Another contact from PinkBike (a Saskatchewan loc, hence the nickname “Chewonit”) was out with us too, and althogh he copleted the first lap with us, he also managed to total his rear wheel on a minor bump near the top. Another one of those random rear wheel catastrophes that seem to happen to virtual povot bikes.

Yet I digress. Here’s Ryan dropping in the snow.

Actually, the trail dried up as the day went on, and the stuff from here down was just fine (which is why there’s no pics of it).
