Out of date trip info, but here for historical reasons

Zipper Apocalypse – 2

It’s time to get high…really high.   Four years after I started riding trails at Retallack, and today we’re heading to the top of Reco Peak at 8 250′.

Oooooo…..so dramatic.   It’s not even that far.  We drove to over 7k’, so it was only maybe 45 minutes or so to push up to the top.  I’ll say this though; it’s pretty exposed in a few spots.

Do you think Devin is stoked or what?

A little shout out to my boy Kirt Voreis, who is laid up with a busted ankle right now.  Can’t wait to shred this line with you, dog.

The view from the top…

And another angle…

After an appropriate chillout sesh, we got our collective shit together and dropped in.

Yeah, it’s kind of scary, but really it’s pretty good to go.  This section is the most technical, and it’s totally rideable right now.  The view is somewhat distracting, though…

It get’s much easier after a hundred meters anyway.

The boys discuss their line.

And then they drop in.

We rode down the road to the other singletrack this time, but by the end of the month we should be hooking the peak up to trails we rode yesterday.  Total descent is in the 5300′ range, and it’s roughly 75% trail.  Expect the rest to be filled in next season.

I leave you with this clip of Kinrade dropping the main scree slope on the east shoulder of Reco.

Puddle Peel Out – 3

What a place to wake up.  Too bad I’m not gonna get a ride today.  With 2 gravity events on tap, I’m gonna have to drive all day long.  Yeah..I know.  I have it SOOOOOO tough.

Speaking of tough guys, check out these hombres:

That’s for all the money.   The PRO DH, with the Cariboo style shotgun start.  Here’s a vid to demonstrate…

With the rides over (no, I have no idea who won…), it was back to the lake.  Just in time for some lake jumps.

…and some shotski’s.  More hilarity ensued, including more folks falling into fires, but as that’s sort of embarrasing I’ll just keep those pics for myself.
