Hello Newfies, Goodbye Florida

All in one day. Put Scott on the plane and blasted up to Whistler to grab some Newfies for a rematch on last year.

Just pass me that bike, will ya? Guess how many times you’re going to hear that this week.

Ah……Yee-aaah.

So we rolled into the ‘Loops around 1 PM-ish. Just in time to meet up with Dub, Doyler, Brandon, Hunter, and Dusty. On the program today…Greenstone. 18Km long and 5000’ of vert.

I heard that Dusty had balls of steel, but I didn’t think this was what they meant.

Some skinny stuff on Greenstone.

Eric, in flying squirrel mode.

Doyler hits a huge, retarded stepdown to Dansition.

He trashed his wheel on the drop. Dusty looked like he was going to puke. Apparently huge flat hucks don’t sit well with his definition of mountain biking.

Dub making Hunter Child into Hunter Man.

Pedaling gets a bit harder in 42 degree heat. Thats about 110 for you Yankees reading this.

Of course, forest fires burn a little easier in that kind of weather too.

Thanks to the Forest Service for getting that one under control in very short order.

A Big Seymour Day

After hitting the wall hard last night, I was ready to charge.

Scott, however, was feeling the effects of Canadian beer.

We hit Seymour hard, riding CBC twice, TNT, Dirty Diapers, Ned’s, Fisherman’s, Corkscrew, a new trail (the Angry Penguin?), Pingu, Boogieman, Baden-Powell, Emergency Exit, Fed Bear/ Dead Bear, and Kelly’s.

Quite the list.

Boombatz on the Gerbil Cage of CBC.

…and on the extension.

Here’s a shot of the gap on Ned’s.

On the second lap we checked out Mark’s new trail. He wants to call it something dirty, like Tossed Salad. I suggested Angry Penguin because it links up to Pingu. This shot is of a teeter-totter with a couple of corners in it. Should be rideable in a week or so.

This trail is going to be sick. A huge wall ride, some crazy step up teeters, and a turntable. Plus a bunch of gaps and drops.

Scott also managed to hit the Piledriver. And smear it. Well, it is traditional to bail on your first time of it, and he’s getting pretty tired after a week of heavy riding.

That’s it, one more day to go.

It’s a Shore Thing

Whaddya mean it’s a big climb?

Oh. Now I get it.

We had another Brit in attendance today. Ed from London came out for a spin.

We checked out the usual stuff on the way up. Wade’s legbreaker gap, Digger’s Cliff, the start of Jerry Rig.

And the Circus.

For all you Florida types who think you can do it, let me tell you something.

You can’t.

It’s hard.

Even Scott agrees.

Here he is dwarfed by the forest on Upper Oil Can.

Dropping in on another.

Ed “I’m not very good” gives himself a scare on Big Smooth.

Scott gets the job done on Sideshow. What a sick pic.

Ed again on Ladies Only.

…and Boombatz on the Lower Ladies rollercoaster.

After this we went for some eats and hit up a speed run on Seymour. No pics, only riding.

Excellent day. I bonked hard and passed out early. Tomorrow is another big day.
