Around the Lake – Part 1

Here’s a fun idea.  An off road circuit around Okanagan Lake.  For this year, I’m trying to work out the kinks in the southern half of the lake.  That should keep me busy for quite a while.

I’ve got the basic route figured out, but there’s a lot of blank areas on the map to fill in.  I got the first part of the route ridden this past weekend.  Check out these views from the top.

Too bad there’s very little singletrack.  It was mainly old road and quad trail, but there’s some cool potential.  With so much hillside, I wouldn’t be surprised to find out that there’s some singletrack in there someplace.

More research is needed, but with our new place in Peachland, I’m sure that we’ll be able to figure out something.  Watch for more updates on this epic in the making throughout the summer.

UFB Challenge – Day 3

Almost time to go home, and we haven’t even ridden in Naramata yet?  Time to change that.

With a somewhat diminished crew, we went over to the other side of the lake today.  I think we might have been a bit tired after the big sesh yesterday.

the creek crossing was a lot mellower than last year, too.  Only knee deep, not b***s deep.

Of course, ofr Dorothy that would be somewhat irrelevant.

We did the traditional Rusty Muffler run for round two, and Brian did it without a drivetrain.  Not bad for a trail that we commonly refer to as “mostly downhill, almost all the time”.

Ken considers drinking the spit bucket.

UFB tie breaker: see how far your baby can fly.

I kid.  Really.  You gotta wait until they’re at least a year old before you start chucking ‘em in the lake.
