Mayo Clinic – 3

There were supposed to be 4 days with the Aussies, but they’re done.  3 days, and they’re blistered, bruised, beat up, and singularly happy.  So to make sure that they go out with a bang, it’s off to Powers Creek for some Builders Only laps.

They might have some issues with the technical, but even the unfamiliarity with the built up jumps isn’t enough to keep them from getting their huck on today.

3 up, and 3 down was the theme all day.  It was nice to see that Powers is in good shape too.  Having not ridden here much in the past couple of seasons, I was a bit concerned that it might be in rough shape.  Not so, not so…

OK, Crazy Train was over the top for the gang.  Gaby got it, but the other guys couldn’t get the line.  Not for lack of trying, and Gaby sent it a few times to make up for all.

The old 2.5 line was in even better shape.  Looks like someone has taken over the maintenance on that one.   Nice to see the old spiral back in action.

Pat making like Schroedingers Cat…

Jaime may have not gotten all of Crazy Train, but he couldn’t let that last gap go without a little steeze for the camera.

A bit of rain, some horns, a big Russian, and we’re out.

No rest for the wicked, as always.  Right after this shot was taken, it was off to the Kootenays and Retallack for me.

Mayo Clinic 2

Day 2 of the clinic, and our Aussies have blisters.  Well, Jaime doesn’t, but he’s Colombian so it doesn’t count.  With that in mind, we went to Kobau for some Cawston Creek laps.  TKO is out for today, as it needs some more maintenance.

It’s a dark and stormy  morning up here.  To think that there’s normally an epic view here.

Looking almost coastal in the desert.

On these next ones, you can see chunks of mud flying off the tires.  One thing about the wet, the ground was insanely sticky.  You could hang impossible corners.

There’s that view.

I think they’re having fun on this one.

Mud and cactus. What a wild morning.

Round 2 was a bit different.

Back to sunshine, and the dirt hit the "all time" condition.

Even the steeps are easy when it’s this soft.  This spine is typically baked rock hard with little marbles on it.  Today you could carve it.

As is quickly becoming tradition, we went over to Osoyoos for a little boat ride and beach time with the Legend himself.

Having a good time yet?

Mayo Clinic

We’re really getting our southern hemisphere on here at Bush Pilot.  Last week it was the Kiwi’s and now it’s Gaby Mayo and friends from Australia (hence the bad pun.  I wasn’t gong to call it “Hold the Mayo”).

As usual, we thought we’d start with an easy trail.

But of course things got out of hand in a hurry.  The next one is of course a Canadian, that being Dave Foot’s first run on the Night Stocker.  You can always tell the locals by the half lid helmets.

Since that went so well, we kept the pace up and also ran the line on Jack and Jill.  Gaby had no problem with it, although Pat and Jamie weren’t convinced.

No day in the Mice seems complete without a little session on the Redemption Compression.

As it seemed that the boys were a lot more at home on the jumps and less comfy on the technical, we did another run up on the Bog to get their huck on.  Which was the right call, as they on sighted pretty much all of it.  So no pics of the jumps.  Here’s Jamie on a random steep part instead.

Then we finished with some classic Canadian sand chutes.

Riding blisters…

Day one down, with beers in the lake.

…and one more for the ladies….
