HBD 2

It’s my birthday…still…   Look, I’ve made it this far.  I’m going to enjoy it.  Besides, I’ve barely seen my little girl all summer, so today we’re going to the beach.

That actually looks a little bit gloomy.  It was much nicer than that if you were there.

Uncle Ash was kind enough to take us out on the boat and over to the desert.  Canada’s only real desert, dontchaknow?

Oh, and also Chevy found out that boats aren’t scary, they’re fun.

I think there is another decent bike adventure to be had tomorrow, though.

Awesome Fall Day

No riding in this post, but everyone needs a break now and again.  We went down to Osoyoos today to hang out with Ash and enjoy some spectacular fall weather on the lake.

Over at Rattlesnake Point it was almost like summer, but without the crowds.  There were lots of animal tracks, like these coyote prints.   There were also some much larger tracks like this, either a very large coyote or possibly even wolf.

Speaking of wolves, here’s a close up of a wolf spider on the beach.

The pro parking job from the guy on his 7th day in a row on the beach.

The only thing about this time of year is that the day ends pretty early.  And yes, the lake is cold…but not all that bad really.  It’s almost November…by that standard it’s awesome!

Darcy and I took the scenic way home, and he really liked these old trucks out in Willowbrook, so I grabbed this shot for him.

Last light out at Green Lake.

Does it make you wanna get outta the fog in Vancouver?  Come ride this weekend!  Cheap!

Mayo Clinic 2

Day 2 of the clinic, and our Aussies have blisters.  Well, Jaime doesn’t, but he’s Colombian so it doesn’t count.  With that in mind, we went to Kobau for some Cawston Creek laps.  TKO is out for today, as it needs some more maintenance.

It’s a dark and stormy  morning up here.  To think that there’s normally an epic view here.

Looking almost coastal in the desert.

On these next ones, you can see chunks of mud flying off the tires.  One thing about the wet, the ground was insanely sticky.  You could hang impossible corners.

There’s that view.

I think they’re having fun on this one.

Mud and cactus. What a wild morning.

Round 2 was a bit different.

Back to sunshine, and the dirt hit the "all time" condition.

Even the steeps are easy when it’s this soft.  This spine is typically baked rock hard with little marbles on it.  Today you could carve it.

As is quickly becoming tradition, we went over to Osoyoos for a little boat ride and beach time with the Legend himself.

Having a good time yet?
