Peel Out 2013 – 1

That’s right, you heard right, it’s Peel Out time again.  It seems like just 6 months ago I was here…oh wait, it was.    I’m here this weekend to help shuttle the masses for the event, so I’m gonna get a bit of a workout lifting bikes on and off the roof.  Luckily one of the first ones is this cherry Fatback Ti with a carbon fork.

That’s one of the sickest rides I’ve ever seen, and dude was a straight up baller shreddin’ the DH course on that bike.

I brought the fam along too, so Chevy and Bee could have some sista/shredda time togetha.

Oh snap!  It’s our old pal Seth in the hot seat, and he managed to hang on to that pose for the hardware!  Nice work man.  Enjoy your victory bevvy.

Inside the brain of a legend…

3..2…1…Peel Out!

The back end of the pro category.  CoCo, Doerfling, and Sorge.  Gee….I wonder what the podium will look like?

Kind of like this?

Speed suit for the win…

I should mention that not only did I race today (on an XC bike), but so did Barb.  Who borrowed a Devinci and hasn’t had a single ride yet this year.  I beat her by 9 whole seconds…

Alright back to the lake.

Jacinta will probably kill me for this one, but she actually IS eating for 2.  Is the world really ready for yet another Shreddie?

And we finish off day one with some more firelight shenanigans.

More to come, but in the meantime here’s some results:

Still The Champ

It’s been something like ten years since Barb turned a pedal in anger.  Back around the turn of the century, she couldn’t be beat, especially on the old DH course at Silverstar.  Well, she thought she’d dive into the hardtail class at this past weekend’s BC Cup race, and guess what?

Yeah, although it has to be said that she was the only one in the HT category.  Still, it’s not like she was slow.  It was awesome to see Barb charging hard for the finish line again.  Chev’s and I almost missed it due to being held up by a local photog.

Chevy is looking for her Mom, ‘cause we just heard Tippie announcing her name as the first racer on course.

Overwhelmed with emotion accepting Mom’s win…

To cap it off, another freekin’ double rainbow to go with the epic lightning storm.

Tired of Old Man Winter?

Head North! Really…..

So I’ve been a little tardy onthe updates, I know. What can I say, I’ve been outta town. I got a random call from my old pal Bjorn over at Radical Films. He needed a little assistance with a shoot for his latest vid, Kranked 7: The Cackle Factor. So I got to go down to Vangroovy and pick up the talent.

I’d like to introduce you to Nathan Rennie…..

…and Josh Bryceland.

You may have heard of them before, as they apparently are some kind of racer types with a squad known as The Syndicate.

I hadn’t, so you’re excused if you don’t know who they are. They can sure ride good though.

Honestly, with terrain and conditions like this in March to play with, who wouldn’t?

jSmoke/Kranked 7

We drove up to the Chilcotin from Vancouver and spent the first day just shuttling the boys so that they could shake down their gear and get used to the terrain.

Apparently it’s a short road to familiarity with this crew.

Bjorn checks the shot angles here while Nathan checks his flightplan.

Now, if you’re some kind of Australian DH camp, or maybe some kind of Manchester up and comer, maybe you’ve never walked on a frozen pond before. Well, don’t let me stop you from experiencing something new….

The video is even better….
