NRG – 1

Who wants some Chromag?

Or maybe some kind of sexy beast?

A good 20 of NRG’s core dealers were here.  This is my network as well, so it was looking like a sick group of riders.  All kinds of talent in the pool today.

Our mission was to start with a bit ofa shuttle up to the sub-alpine.  With almost 30 bikes to deal with, we had an extra van and the adorable Leah along  to help.

For those of you just joining the party, she’s MARRIED.    Not everyone got that memo, much to the amusement of those who did.

After the unload, it was a mixed climb and push to the ridgeline.  The peloton looked hungry…

A tight group, we hit the summit at 7200′ in only 50 minutes, with only a 10 minute gap between first and last.

It just happened to be Shreddie’s birthday, so we had to have some sparkly cake and singing up in this most excellent of venues.  This is also the location of Brandon Semenuk’s memorable segment from NWD10.

From here, it was 28 switchbacks down to Cody, and then Sandon.

It’s a bit of a scenic place.

It was only doubletrack, but that was fine by me.  We had a long haul ahead of us before we got to the chilled ones on the beach.

Almost all the old roads out here are relics of the mining that occurred here over the past century.  Some of them look like they’d make nice jumps, too.

Johnny I liked this one.

Our old pal the Big Pig also showed up.  Here we are enjoying a rest in the ghost town of Cody.

Here’s the boys as they found out that Leah (the only woman for miles at times today) is happily married.

Kurt didn’t care.  He was just gathering his forces for the next 2000′ climb on Idaho Pk.

We didn’t bother with the summit, but went to Choices instead.   Which is fun, because it has this rad steep section in it.   Check out this pic of the first ever descent of Idaho Pk. on a Salsa 29’r with titanium moustache bars.

This isn’t the first of anything, but Shawn should get his pic up, ’cause it’s a pretty spiffy shot.

We did a different route today, riding down the old Sandon Road to the beach.  Haven’t done that ride yet, but it’s a super cool way to get to New Denver.  Plus, beach and beers after.

Pasty fat guys in lycra.   Just need some techno music and it we could call this one “Clubbing Seals”.

It’s a joke…get over it.  Ramen liked it.

I think everyone had a decent time.

Hopefully they remember that there’s more tomorrow…

Kootenay Down Time

It’s a non-working day of sorts.   We cracked off a staff descent in the morning, and helped the boys with their stunt (I’m callin’ it the Moose Knuckle, but I think Riley has his own story on it) a bit.

There must have been some distracton when this one got framed, as it needed a lot of refinements to make it rideable.  I guess it gets lonely at the lodge, so when the ladies show up, the trail building gets done with only half an eye.  Luckily, the ladies were away today so Riley could adjust the line.

Our pals from NRG also were around today.  They had to get a bit of work done, as they were hosting a product launch for their best dealers (NRG imports distributes various familiar lines in Canada, like Chromag, Maxxis, MRP, and others).  But work didn’t take long, and we got the up to Idaho Peak for a quick run before dinner.

Kootenay down time…get it?

Alright, two days of riding, feasting, and checking out the latest 2012 gear from some of my favourite companies.  Oh, and I get paid to do this?
