So Surly…

Had a chance to hook up with the guys at Surly Bikes for a quick rip in the Okanagan this week.  Looks like those big tires are good for more than just snow…

It’s pretty flat back in the Mid-West where they’re from, so I think Smith Creek may have been a bit of an eye-opener for the boys.

Good thing they have such a beast of a climber in Ramin Sherkat of NRG distributing their bikes in Canada.

Sweet little ride, and thanks a bunch for the beers and food after.

NRG – 2

We actually managed to get up early for some more today. Extra early in fact, so we could shred the lodge trail first thing, and test out the Moose Knuckle.

The rest of the day would be a run on the Wakefield, as many guys had to head home today. On the way up, we randomly ran across another old acquaintance, Rudi Schneider. How’s that dust, dude?

You know…there’s an off-road climb.  Ahhh…never mind.  Tourists.  Speaking of which, it was quite a scene unloading everyone at the top for the Wakefield.  We had enough bikes to take the whole lot, and there were already a half dozen cars there when we showed with the vans.   It’s not like there’s much room to start with.

Another typical crap day on the Wakefield with 30 of our friends.

Busy at the top?  Look at this traffic jam in the middle of the ride.

The old truck is finally starting to decay.  My first ride here (’97 or so), this truck was in mint shape.  It was actually locked, with all the glass intact.  It still looks like the engine is salvageable, and there’s some spare parts in the box.

Time for a bit more beach…

…and another steak courtesy of our friends from NRG.  That was a great weekend.  Thanks, Shroom.
