Seymour Super D

Greetings, race fans, and welcome to the first ever Seymour Super D. If you don’t know what a Super D is, well…you start at hte top and end at the bottom, but there’s usually a good climb or two, plus some flat sections, and the length is somwhat more involved than a typical DH race. Like 10x longer….

For this versioon, it was a team event, with teams of 2 or 4 competing for glory, cheesy prizes, and beer.

Check the scene at the start.

“Going my way…?”

Meh, they’re all married anyway.

Unlike these smelly ole’ dogs. Team Shuttlewhore shows off their new uni’s.

A whore about to finish the descent.

Have a look HERE for an amusing clip of the race action.

…and we finish off with a look at the….finish.

Trail Day — Seymour

Rebuilt quite a bit of Corkscrew and Salvation this past Sunday. A great time was had by all. Gotta hand it to Barb, she sure knows how to throw a good trail day. Kudos to Schneiders Meats, IGA, Central City Brewing, The Raven Pub, Bean Around the World, Cove Bikes, and of course…….me.

It was good to see Chaz out there working in the mud like…well like no other shop owners I’ve seen in a while.

It was a pretty gloomy day, but lots of folks came out.

Around 60 people for lunch, which was salmon, hamburgers, and hot dogs. Oh, and a bit of suds if you knew where to look.

Big rocks need many supervisors.

Big ramps need big rocks ot hold them in place.

“No no, there’s not enough flow that way. Stand back ten feet and straighten it out….”

Good to see the union boys putting in their time too.

Wildlife shot.

There ya go little fella, you’re safe now.

First Tour of the Season

Meet Sara, the first victim…uhhhh, I mean client, of the season.

She’s your atypical English scientist type, out on a field trip to investigate solar power. Leave it to the Solar industry to have a conference in Vancouver. The sunshine capital of … oh never mind.

At any rate, Sara is in a LOT of trouble. Kneepads, bridges, freeride hardtail in pink camo…..

Yup, looks suspiciously like a freeride kind of day to me.

At least she has the decency to clip her feet into her pedals. Anyway, a great start to the season. We went for the pedally version of Shore riding today; up Seymour and around the far side and back. I’m a bit hurting after lying around ski hills and drinking beer all winter. All in all, a full on blast of a ride.

Blurry over-the-shoulder shot on the climb.

More proof….

Yeah….trouble. My apologies to the boys in the bike shop in London, but I think she may be corrupted.
