Fest Shredden – 3

That park was great, but no trip to the Sunshine Coast would be complete without a few laps on the amazing trails of Roberts Creek.  So we got up early and hit some laps on trails like Mach Chicken.

I don’t know what impressed the boys more; the amazing flow of the trails here or the amazing ladies that bike them.  Jess was good enough to take time out of her riding schedule to help us shuttle today.

A couple of laps later and we spent some time on DNZ teaching the new guys a few old tricks.  Here’s Daniel on a bit of a step down.

Wolfgang set the line on the gaps, so that Fabien could get a few of them dialled in.

Of course, we sent several middle fingers to cancer via the Steve Sheldon Supersender, as is tradition.

Fuck cancer…

We even had a double session on the legendary Cunning Stunts, and Daniel managed a clean run on the swivel totter.

One more lap on Mach Chicken to be had before hitting the ferry.

Daniel pops his Millenium Falcon cherry right here…

The verdict on the day?  The boys thought it was the best day of mountain biking they’ve ever had.

Sweet.  Mission accomplished.

Daniel took it in stride, and the rest of the gang looked like this:

No rest for the wicked once again.  After dropping the boys downtown, it was time to hit the highway.  An all nighter in store for me should lead to some more adventures tomorrow…

Sun + Fun + Germans – 2

Looks like it’ll be sunnier today…but not until later.

Like it matters.  We’re on the Sunshine Coast today; it’s sunny in your soul at all times over there.  Oh, and we even saw a porpoise on the way across.

Although it seems like it’s always tough to get the new meat to ride this one…

Had a couple of additions to the crew today, with Will and Nico along.  They seem to be sort of talented.

I was teasing Nico about being related to Lee, as they both have the last name Lau.  Not much in common after that, though.

We spent a bit of time by the dirt jumps up the B&K.   Looks like the Coastal Crew has been busy lately.

After a few laps, it was clear that the new guys weren’t just any random riders.  I know I’m not the fastest guy out there, but I’m not that slow either.  And when I’m feeling good on trails I know, I’m usually pretty even with anyone.  When these boys started doggin’ my rear wheel, I figured the fix was in.  The 22 lb enduro bike from Cube was a bit of a clue.  This kid is a bit of an up and comer in the enduro world cup.

Stefan didn’t care.  He just wanted to some more laps, like everyone else.

As always, we got our huck on.  Big props to the builders on the SSC.  Everything was spiffed right up.

Which led us to a great session on Steve Sheldon’s Super Sender.

Oh, and this guy here is our guest photographer.  He’s got some skills, too.

Even Cunning Stunts got a rebuild this year.   Nico managed to clean the swivel totter a few times.

Here’s some footage from Nico’s headcam.

That was a solid day.  See how happy everyone looks?

Yeah, keepin’ that stereotype alive.

Die Rasenmaeher 2011 – 2

Aww dudes. You came this far, we GOTTA hit the Sunshine Coast.

“You’d better not be lying to me, Johnny Smoke.”

Yes yes, we know. You Germans have ways. Why don’t you go huck yerself?

Surprised that Holger hadn’t made it over to the SSC yet actually. He’s ridden most spots in BC, funny that he’d missed out on this one.

Classic day over there. Not exactly sunny though.

We also ran into more Germans. There were two young’ns camping up at the top on a POS car, and we let them tag along for a few runs.

They kept us amused, and even sucked Holger into a crash or two on the swivel totter.

It is a very Cunning Stunt.

As we continued to cram more runs in, the weather got worse and worse.

So bad, you couldn’t even see your wheels (look closely…).

OK, pic of the day, IMO. Funny how some guys just get the shots. Probably has a lot to do with that Eurotrash outfit he’s rockin’, but you can’t deny the man’s got style.

Some more of our strays, sending it in the dj zone.

Possibly the heaviest bike EVER on the roof of the van. Yes, that’s three brawny Nords struggling with the “Peterbomb”.

The boys at the beach, celebrating the fact that they never have to put Peters bike up on the roof again.

…and the traditional victory shot.

Good times as always, ya Lawnmower. Looks like I’ll be seeing a few of you guys real soon.
