Dirtbags – Prologue

Your crew is called the “Dirtbags,” eh?  Well, we should get along just fine.  Since this is Dave Silver and a bunch of guys from BC Bike Race, I don’t feel so bad about missing the Retallack Legends Weekend (OK, I totally think it sucks that these are on the same weekend, but I had to make the choice weeks ago). Enough excuses, let us ride!

Some of the crew got here a bit earlier, so I took them for what I thought would be the first of a couple of laps up in the Mice.

Things got a bit hairy right off the bat, with a bunch of very XC and 29’r-y bikes rolling into some seriously steep terrain.

My plans for more runs were soon thwarted by a series of flat tires though.  Damn coastal kids…we set a new record for most flats in one day this season in a single group with 8.

…and we missed Shaun and Linnette’s wedding, although we did hear some of it.

Oh well, we still managed to relax with a beer on the beach afterwards.

Tomorrow, it gets serious.  Better rest up.

Tippie/Fenton Wedding

Froriders, the mountain bike equivalent of Juggalos.

I wasn’t even supposed to be here, but due to a continued sucking in the tourism sector in BC, I found myself with a fully charged Prius and enough time to get to Whistledog to catch a pretty damn good party.  And you can tell by the hat that I wasn’t the only one to rip down from the Kootenays to be there.

That’s another old Cove’r, Tim-o (or has he likes to be called, Madrone), also known as Sarah’s brother.

It was a bit surreal, as I claim Brett as one of my better friends in the bike world, and Sarah as one of my better friends from the old Cove.  When world collide, you get scenes like this one below (it’s a pretty big pic, might take a bit to view….):

For some reason, I’ve got a bunch of pics of Sarah’s ass.  What can I say?  I’m weak that way.

Hee hee hee hee!

About to drop in with 100 or so riders, and the newly married couple of Mrs. Tippie and Mr. Fenton.  On the subject of “Something borrowed, something blue,” I don’t know what Sarah had that was blue, but she did borrow my knee pads for the ride.  Glad I could be there for ya.

And in other old faces, we ran into Matt from the UK, who came out with the Release the Candy tour a few years back.  Or as we like to call him…

“Princess!”  (read the purse carefully, it’s sorta hard to see.)

The Best “Joe’s Wedding” Ever

It IS mountain bike related.  Joe is one of my oldest riding buddies that still rides hard, and it’s always fun when he gets married (it’s his 2nd time around).

A much more casual affair this time.  He decided to forego the expense of a church or anything like that, and just had the party in an alley.

OK, there’s a story behind it.  Seems like he and Lisa spent several months scurrying around in the alley to avoid the gossip of the neighbours.  It didn’t really work, but hey…if I was in his shoes I wouldn’t care what the neighbours said.  She’s pretty darn cute, eh?

Wow…these vows are long.

Finally.

Lots of friends from the coast came up, including the whole Frampton tribe.  Geneva and Jade are looking all growed up.

Finally, later on, our pal Mark showed up to ask Joe about his “Swalls”.  At least he waited until after the actual ceremony.  Joe…take note.

Anyway, congratulations you two.  That was the best Joe’s wedding ever.
