Peel Out 2013 – 2

Good morning race fans!  After another great Chimney Lake party, it’s time to Super D.

Super D and Jer-Can were the only entrants in the hotly contested tandem category.

They finished one, two, with Super T taking the win by half a bike length.

A million laughs…I know.

Racing was fun.  I fulfilled my role admirably today as pack filler, and Barb had a great run as well.  Afterwards, we went go-karting.

Then it was time to slay an Ice and head to Desous.

Such a sick day, I think we’ll just have to ride Godspeed.

Here’s a bunch of nice ones on the sand chutes.  Check out this one of Jer and Mr. Moon.

Super T.

Seth (and Mr. Moon again).

Krow.

Tara

…and Ian.

After a quick gap (with Mitch)…

…it was time to drop in to the waterfall.

I skipped this one.  The Stumpy did great on this trail, but this line is burly.  Maybe next time.

Some creepy moments with Seth…

Mitch’s dad was shuttling the van back down, and we got a bit bored waiting so we thought we’d trundle a few rocks.

Oops, we got a bit outta hand.  As it turns out, we were in the wrong spot anyway.

Everyone else was waiting down here.

It was fun hanging out and all, but we had to get back for the Shred Kelly show.

I think the Puddle crowd kind of caught the band off guard, but they reacted well.  When the entire room gets up and starts Given’ Er on the first song, I imagine it’s easy to get stoked as a performer.

You can still get Iced though.

Oh no, it’s a half naked schnitzel on stage.  I think the party is over.

OK, one more fire jump and it’s over.

Wait…where’s Monica?  Fire jumps just aren’t the same without Sparky.

Peel Out 2013 – 1

That’s right, you heard right, it’s Peel Out time again.  It seems like just 6 months ago I was here…oh wait, it was.    I’m here this weekend to help shuttle the masses for the event, so I’m gonna get a bit of a workout lifting bikes on and off the roof.  Luckily one of the first ones is this cherry Fatback Ti with a carbon fork.

That’s one of the sickest rides I’ve ever seen, and dude was a straight up baller shreddin’ the DH course on that bike.

I brought the fam along too, so Chevy and Bee could have some sista/shredda time togetha.

Oh snap!  It’s our old pal Seth in the hot seat, and he managed to hang on to that pose for the hardware!  Nice work man.  Enjoy your victory bevvy.

Inside the brain of a legend…

3..2…1…Peel Out!

The back end of the pro category.  CoCo, Doerfling, and Sorge.  Gee….I wonder what the podium will look like?

Kind of like this?

Speed suit for the win…

I should mention that not only did I race today (on an XC bike), but so did Barb.  Who borrowed a Devinci and hasn’t had a single ride yet this year.  I beat her by 9 whole seconds…

Alright back to the lake.

Jacinta will probably kill me for this one, but she actually IS eating for 2.  Is the world really ready for yet another Shreddie?

And we finish off day one with some more firelight shenanigans.

More to come, but in the meantime here’s some results:

Ladies Hucktoberfest – 3

That was a fun day yesterday.  Just a reminder…

Always good times at Shreddie’s place.  There might not have been any hot tub hanky panky, but as previously alluded to,  the tub sure got manky.

With a great party comes the late start.  Lenora styled us out with a huge Cariboo breakfast, and after tidying up and getting the girls packed up, we went into town to ride some more snowy trails.

What can I say?  It was cold, grey, and while not great for pics it was sure fun to ride.  Here’s Penny sending asmall road gap.

2012 is going down as a year where I rode with way more of the girls than the guys.  I’ve always enjoyed shredding with the ladies, be it snow or dirt, but I really sense a shift this year.  This trip underlines it in a big way.  Women are riding big, and riding hard.  This group was arguably stronger and tougher as a whole than just about any group I’ve ever had.

Pretty and badass = Pretty Badass.

Sounds like this crew is going for a rematch at some point.  Here’s hoping I can get ringside seats once again.

The season is nearly done, but I’ve got a few more days of riding left to go yet.
