Hurtin’ For Vert – Stage 1

Now that we got the warmup done, it’s time to ride.  The first stage is the legendary Keystone Standard ride.  A gorgeous out and back rip up by Revelstoke.

Here’s the beta…

As usual, it’s a bluebird day.  Still, even with perfect visibility it’s hard to see Burchie in there.

Oh, there he is.

Our token female out for this lap.  Elinor and Casey had big FR rigs, and went back to Revy.  This is Nicole(I think…sorry if I got it wrong), from Vernon.

Kind of a nice day out.

Check out those switchbacks.  Dingo earned a beer by cleaning that climb.

He had to do some hoping around the corners just to make it.

Looking back into the first basin.

High point, everyone have a beer!

The shooters were having a fun day.  I think they may have gotten paid this trip.

Well, if I’m getting these results with a compact, imagine the pics from the SLR’s these two were dragging around.

We were a bit late getting out, but then again with a sunset in the Selkirks it was hard to hurry it up.

Check out that light.

…and a little panoramic view for you to enjoy.  Dre looks sorta intense, doesn’t he?

Hurtin’ For Vert – Prologue

Holy massive update.  Well, it’s a bit of a massive day trip here.  A call from Tyler at PinkBike earlier in the season has come to fruition.  A whole pile of personalities and miscommunications later, and whoever showed up at this random spot in the Selkirk Mtns. was in.

Among others, Elinor made it out to the camp late.  Sorry lads, she’s taken

Some random German named Manhorse also showed up.  I don’t even want to know…

Oh, and Dre was there in time for coffee.

Nice campsite, eh?

Another lovely young lady that shreds….and knows how to make the most of breakfast time.

Yeah, she’s not looking for a boyfriend either.  You fella’s just relax.  Like this guy…

Doesn’t get any more relaxing, does it?  Dingo, watch where you’re standing.  You might be in a puddle.

Margus, also known as ‘the Turtle’ and ‘the Thunder’.  He carries a big pack, and rides a short travel rig really hard.  I’ll let you figure that out.

Wade, with the first of his several hundred flat tire.  This is like…30 seconds into the trip.

There’s the rock he hit.

Here’s the penalty for slowing us down.

Hi!

So, we’re rocking a trail known as Martha Creek.  Just a little 4700 foot descent to start the day.

There’s Tyler.  His mom dressed him.

Dingo, with a more subdued fashion sense.

Simmons, about to flat again.

Yeah, it’s flat alright.  A star studded cast to be sure on this trip.  Former Olympians, top 2 Crankworx finishers, pro level riders of all sorts, Psychosis champs, I was in deep for this week.

Sorta like this guy.  In deep…

Rest break, flat repair, and what is soon to be a bridge.

Alright, back to shreddin.

Small girl, big trees.

Oh, some Euro stars were out too.  Mario is one of the top freeride stars in Germany these days.  The camera just loves him…

Reg doesn’t give a shit about the camera, he just likes ripping.

At least we found a use for all those blown tubes.

Wow, you guys are tired? That was just the warm up!

Here’s some stats for you…

Let Them Eat Cake – Day 1

Yes, the theme of this years May Two Four long weekend would have to be cake. Don’t ask me why, it just was.

Things started early on Friday, with the arrival of the crew from the Collective and our pal Radek from Pinkbike.

Most of these guys haven’t ridden up here yet, and they got a supremem day for it. Winter is finally over.

Radek goes big. Or Radek IS big. Take your pick.

Here’s some fun with macro. Yes, and action shot on macro. It actually worked.

This one didn’t. As Dan Barham tells me, push the ISO as afar as it will go, make it black and white, and call it art.

Big Radek again.

..and one of the Collective minions showing him up. Sorry, I totally spaced your name. It was a LONG weekend.

The price Radek paid for his “going bigness.”

We crammed a couple of good runs in before sundown. It was awesome with allthe heat and flowers and goodness out there.

We finished off with the Kelowna premiere of Seasons, and the assembled crowd loved every second. It would be after midnite before I returned home, and I wondered what I might find there….
